Even though it is a fan favorite, Scottsdale is more than just fancy golf courses, beautiful resort views, relaxing spas, and baseball league giants. It is a year-round destination and home to both the Scottsdale Cancer Center and the Arizona Treatment Center. This is not the only cancer treatment center Arizona has to offer. There are many options to choose from depending on what type of cancer you or your loved one may have as some cancer treatment centers have a specialty. However, you can rest assured that the accommodations that Scottsdale has to offer are top quality.

A Little History of Scottsdale

Scottsdale was established and named after an Army chaplain named Winfield Scott and incorporated in 1951 with a population of 2000. By 2018, it grew to over 255,000 according to the U.S Census Bureau. Dubbed as the desert version of Miami’s South Beach by The New York Times, Scottsdale is 31 miles long and over 11 miles wide, sharing boundaries with other cities. After visiting the Salt Lake River Valley, Scott saw the area’s potential for agriculture and development and returned with his wife to purchase 640 acres of land. He and his brother were the town’s first residents, which eventually became known as Orangedale after the numerous citrus groves planted by the brothers. Eventually, the Scottsdale Public School System was established and the first schoolhouse was opened followed by the first general store. The first post office was located in the general store. Art and culture flourished in this area during the 1900s and the first resort was opened called the Ingleside Inn. Soon, a Blacksmith’s shop was opened in downtown Scottsdale and the original schoolhouse was replaced by the more upscale Little Red Schoolhouse, which still remains to this day. Between 1908 and 1933, Scottsdale’s population grew rapidly and sustained that growth for many years after. Scottsdale eventually became a town that provided services for the agricultural industry and became a cotton production hub during the First World War. During this time, the second resort was built on 12 acres of a property called the Jokake Inn. When the Depression hit the US, an influx of artists and architects flooded the area including the internationally renowned Frank Lloyd Wright. He established an everlasting influence on the area which is still felt to this day.

Currently, Scottsdale has grown to become a tourism hot spot due to its year-round sunshine and magnificent landscape views. It is currently tied with Atlanta for fourth place in having the most AAA Diamond hotels and resorts in the US. Additionally, it has become a major attraction for excellence in medical care. Home to one of the Mayo Clinic campuses, Scottsdale has attracted many other top medical centers, including cancer centers. doctor and nurse with clipboards visiting senior patient
